NYCM INSURANCE VINTAGE MX WEEKEND

AUGUST 28 – AUGUST 30, 2020

Where racing history comes alive…..

WE ARE GOING VINTAGE RACING ON AUGUST 28-30. Those who love to race vintage will find options for racing the entire weekend just like Rewind of old but done in a way that adheres to the guidelines for the times we are in.

So what’s changed? First, masks/face coverings. You MUST have one and be prepared to use it. This is not a suggestion but a mandate. Whenever you are in an area (sign up, food concession, t-shirt trailer, bathrooms, walkways, etc.) where you cannot maintain 6’ of separation from those not in your group, you must be prepared to cover your nose and mouth. You put our entire future in jeopardy if you don’t comply. Second, parking….we will be spacing vehicles further apart to comply with state mandates. We are prepared to use the entire facility if necessary but it’s doubtful that we will need to. Third, you will see more sinks and the addition of hand sanitizer stations. Please use them! Gatherings…while you can sit around a small campfire with the group you arrived with, please do not invite other people/groups you don’t know to do so with you. The same goes for meals….please interact at your campsite with those you arrived with and limit it to that unless you can be 6′ away from those you don’t know. Spectators…no outside spectators are allowed at this event by governor’s order. Families of racers or a small crew are allowed. A spectator is defined as someone who is just looking for something to do.The swap meet has been cancelled. While it seems like a lot, most of it is common sense. We’ve proven it can be done while still having a fun time.

So what hasn’t changed…..the fun you will have racing on the Pro track. The fact that you are finally able to get out that vintage bike and race. The fun you will have with your circle of friends and family you arrived with. You and your friends bench racing around the campfire. And bikes limited to the year 1999 and before so that this remains a vintage dirt bike event.

Pre-entry is now up and running for all events over the 3 days. It is advised that you pre-enter so as to reduce the amount of time you will need to spend at sign up and to reduce the amount of paper our staff has to handle and enter. WHEN YOU PRE-ENTER, YOU WILL RECEIVE AN EMAIL AND/OR TEXT MESSAGE WITH A LINK TO AN ON-LINE INSURANCE RELEASE. UNTIL YOU COMPLETE THE RELEASE, YOU WILL NOT BE ENTERED INTO THE EVENT. ONE RELEASE PER RACING DISCIPLINE WILL BE GENERATED SO IF YOU ENTER 2 EVENTS, YOU WILL NEED TO COMPLETE 2 RELEASES. THIS WILL SAVE YOU TIME AT SIGN UP SINCE IT WILL BE ONCE LESS THING YOU NEED TO SIGN ON-SITE. IF YOU ARE CONFUSED ABOUT WHAT CLASS TO ENTER, EITHER REACH OUT TO US OR DO YOUR BEST. WE CAN MAKE CLASS CHANGES ON SITE IF YOU ARE IN THE WRONG CLASS.

Sadly these are the times we are in for the foreseeable future. We can either throw in the towel, or put on our racing pants and deal. We’ve chosen the latter. Let’s go racing!

Banned states as of August 11th: Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii Indiana, Iowa, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, North Carolina, North Dakota,  Oklahoma,  South Carolina, South Dakota,Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin. In addition the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico are also on the list. The 14 day quarantine holds as well for people from non-banned states who traveled to a banned state and stayed for more than 24 hours within 14 days of the start of the event.

VINTAGE RACING

NO MEMBERSHIPS OF ANY KIND ARE NEEDED FOR THIS WEEKEND. We’ve made sure that any bike up through and including 1999 year models can race all three days (Friday-Sunday), and expanded the eligible years for the cross-country event to include up to 1997 year models. That’s right, many of you who were previously excluded from cross-country now are included! We also added a couple of classes to the grass track line up and modified Friday’s racing schedule a bit. For those new to vintage racing, all classes are awards-based classes, including the expert classes.

All motocross racing except for the grass track takes place on the Unadilla Pro National track, rewound to be vintage friendly.

CLASS INFORMATION

IF YOU ARE UNSURE ON WHAT CLASS YOU SHOULD ENTER FOR ANY OF THE WEEKEND’S RACING EVENTS, EITHER REACH OUT TO US OR ENTER THE CLASS YOU THINK  YOU SHOULD BE IN. WE CAN MAKE ANY CLASS CHANGES THAT NEED TO BE MADE AT THE EVENT. NOT THE END OF THE WORLD!! FOR THOSE USED TO “SUPPORT CLASSES”, SUNDAY’S POST VINTAGE CLASSES COVER BIKES THROUGH 1999 SO THERE IS NO NEED FOR “SUPPORT CLASSES” THAT DAY. SATURDAY WE DID ADD SOME “NEWER” CLASSES TO THE LINE UP SO EVERYONE CAN RACE ALL THREE DAYS.

CROSS-COUNTRY

Cross-country has a couple of changes this year. First, we will start with an 8:00 am riders’ meeting for all cross-country racers. Cross-country racing starts at 8:30 am with the vintage division. At approx. 10:30 am will be send off the post-vintage division. Post-vintage this year includes steel frame bikes up through and including 1997. This gives a few more bikes the opportunity to woods race.

THE NORTHEAST SERIES POINTS WILL BE AWARDED ON HOW YOUR PERFORMANCE COMPARES TO OTHER NORTHEAST RIDERS. THIS WILL BE PERFORMED WITH THE HELP OF TRACKSIDE RACE PROGRAM SOFTWARE AND MERRITT’S REVIEW.

CAMPING PASSES

While camping spots do not sell out, you can purchase your camping pass in advance online.

Staying on-site has become a favorite as people join their family around the campfire. It will be a bit different this year as the tall tales, memories of old, and relaxing with beer in hand must be kept to those who you arrived with. No need to spend time going back and forth to a motel when you can put your feet up at the end of the day and motocross until, well, whenever!! Camping makes it not only easier to enjoy Friday and Saturday nights without the hassle of having to drive anywhere at the end of the evening but has you right there ready to go the next morning.

Camping spots are first come, first served and are primitive spots. Water is available to fill tanks/drums but not for individual hook up. We do our best to accommodate groups wanting to park together. If you arrive together, you can definitely park together! Otherwise, we do our best to accommodate getting everyone parked together who wants to be together.

  • Camping gates open Thursday, August 27th at 1pm and close at 11 pm nightly.
  • Camping is available to racers and their family/crew only.
  • Enhanced spacing will be utilized. We are prepared to use the entire facility but doubt we will need to.
  • Modern toilets and showers are available on-site.
  • Each camping spot will hold one vehicle (including a trailer in tow)
  • Hook-ups are not available but there is access to potable water upon arrival
  • For groups wanting to camp near each other, the easiest way is to plan to arrive together. Otherwise, we will do our best to get everyone parked together as you arrive.
  • Please bring your own trash bags. Dumpsters will be available to carry your trash to.
